Resume Guidelines

Education:

1. Include secondary school information
2. Specify if you’ve studied abroad
3. Include extracurricular activities, especially if you held some school office

Professional Experience:

1. Specify if it was full or part time work
2. Explain any gaps in employment
3. For part time jobs, explain why you didn’t seek full time employment

Special Skills (include):

1. Language Skills (fluency in English is critical)
2. Computer Skills

Format: Begin with position you are applying for, then education followed by experience (in that order)

Length: No longer than two to three pages

Cover Letter Guidelines

1. State how you learned about job
2. Include brief summary as to why you’re interested in job
3. Specify why you are qualified for job
4. Request a personal interview

Format: Education always comes before Professional Experience in chronological, not reverse chronological format.

Length: No length restrictions are given

Cover Letter Guidelines

1. Indicate current position, work content, field of responsibility, organizational level/reporting structure, and name of employer.
2. State core competencies and noteworthy experiences in related industries.

Length and Format: No more than one page; A4 page setup rather than 8 ½” x 11”
